Participants will paint, sculpt, and create collage art in impressionist, realist, surrealist, avant-garde, cubist, and fauvist styles.  Upon completion, participants may move on to a more in-depth language and art experience via the “Be a French Artist” Impressionist and Modern Artist programs.

Sessions 2 and 3:  “Be a French Artist” In-Depth Language and Art

Once kids have been introduced to major French artists and styles of the 19th and 20th centuries and beginning French language, they can choose to continue to work in a favorite style while continuing to learn the French language. During each one session, participants will build upon their beginning language skills to learn to speak French in the past and future tenses and expand their vocabulary.

Be a French Impressionist – builds upon present tense French language skills and learning to speak in the future tense, while focusing on creating masterpieces reminiscent of French Impressionists such as Monet, Renoir, Cassatt, Morisot, and Degas.

Be a French Modern Artist – reviews present and future tense language skills while introducing past tense French language skills.  Participants spend half of the session creating masterpieces in sculpture reminiscent of 19th and 20th Century artists such as Rodin, Claudel, Degas, and Bourdelle.  The second is spent creating painting and multimedia masterpieces reminiscent of post Impressionists such as Chagall, Toulouse-Lautrec, Braque, and Matisse. Kids can choose the style(s) upon which they will focus.
